We love to celebrate the weddings of our dive club members with an event we call Wedding Dive Day.

This July we gathered at Shelley Beach, Manly, for a wedding dive day and picnic celebration of the marriage between Michael Kalman and Cheryl McElroy. This was especially rewarding as Michael had proposed to Cheryl on our dive tour to Bali last year. It was made all the more rewarding as it was a perfect day with sunshine, flat seas and 15 meters visibility underwater.

Now because this event is organized by the ladies in our dive group it can be a bit cheesy draped in pink veils or bow ties as you trundle across the sand in full dive kit but the locals on the beach always seem intrigued and the great food and company après dive is always worthwhile.

On this occasion the dive was very worthwhile as the crystal clear water provided an excellent opportunity to view the amazing amount of fish life that flourish here since it has become a marine protected area.

Official wedding dive day photographer Kevin Deacon captured the wedding party underwater but his stand out image of the day captures Michael & Cheryl arriving at the underwater reception via an unusual mode of transport.

Wedding Dive Days, a celebration of life, love and camaraderie with fellow marine explorers.
