Our Australia Day trip to Jervis Bay this year coincided with Kevin’s 60th birthday so the party was on with a Marine Fancy Dress theme.  Species sighted at the party included Anemones, Orangutan Crabs, Red Indianfish, Spanish Dancer Nudibranchs, Frogs, Seahorses, Jellyfish, Turtles, and Pirates!

The party ended at 2am with a refreshing swim off the back of Ocean Trek and music master Ross Greenwood commandeering the Ipod.

The diving also delivered with most of the weekend spent at our favourite spots on the north side of Jervis Bay at sites including Docks, Apollo Reef, Boat Harbour and Easter Reef.  Some of the critters spotted included Velvetfish (spied by Brent), Giant Stingrays, Eagle Rays, squid laying eggs, and even a Sunfish (which only some people saw!).

It was great to have special guest partygoers Phil , Ross & Brandon along for the weekend and well done to Dorrie (Chris) for winning the fancy dress prize for her Medusa Jelly Outfit!

Below are some of the guest book comments left for Kev after the weekend…

You were 18 when I first met you and the only thing stopping you being a dirty old man then was your age. You are now out the exclusion zone. Thanks for the memories, the dives and the trips, but especially the camaraderie. Let’s see what you can do in another 60 years … Phil C (2 IC)

From bars in Thailand to sharks in New Guinea, you have shown me things in the world that I perhaps could have imagined … but I could never have imagined experiencing them first hand. And that’s what it takes to be so good at 60: imagination, experience and most of all, a zest for life that makes growing up impossible … Ross G

Kev, diving with you is a scream. I scream when the jelly-fish get me and the puffer fish scream (well not exactly scream, but as good as) when I get them. You only appear to scream when there is no more ice left. Every other bit of it has been great … Brandon P

Given that you have been attacked by a shark, and had three wives, it’s amazing that you made it to 60. The question is: "Which of these took the biggest bite out of you?" Thanks for all the fun and adventure. I am looking forward to the next 60… Dave

Happy birthday Kev. I have been diving with you on and off for 10 years and I hope you have had as much fun teaching it as I have had fun learning. I look forward to many more trips … Stuart

Kev, it’s amazing that you’ve made it this far relatively unscathed. It must be due to the fact that you look after yourself so well. No late nights, avoid the demon drink and stay away from wild women. Yes that is obviously the secret. Now if only I could learn from you.

Seriously, it’s been a ball being along for the ride and Wendy and I are looking forward to the next adventures…. Brent.
