Sue Newson has got us off to a great start for 2005 with another outstanding image from Jervis Bay.

Sue is the Ocean Trek gourmet chef, so she is somebody to be nice to when you get onboard. The crew on Ocean Trek have named this guy Lucifer.

Sue shot this image of a Juvenile Bleekers Devilfish with her Sony Cybershot digital camera in a Marine Pac housing with Sea & Sea YS 25 Strobe kit.

Lucifer is living in the Double Decker cave at the Docks, one of the many great dive sites at Jervis Bay.

Feb 05 - David Miller

David Miller captured this image of Kevin and one of his fishy pals snuggling up on the Great Barrier Reef.

David is the photo professional onboard MV Poseidon based out of Port Douglas in Queensland. Kevin was onboard conducting a photo course for James Cook University.

David’s image of the friendly cod was taken in December 2004 with his Nikon Coolpix 5000 digital camera.

Kevin travels regularly to James Cook University in Cairns to be a guest lecturer for the Certificate of Underwater Imaging course.

Mar 05 - Garry Sundin

Garry Sundin was on a snorkel when he shot this “shark’s eye” image at the Neptune Islands in South Australia. The Great White Shark came right up to inspect the cage and check Garry out.

Be part of some of this action on Dive 2000’s next Great White Shark trip in 2006.

Garry used a Sea & Sea DX3000 digital camera with 20mm wide angle lens attached purchased from Dive 2000. The image was sunlight only (no strobe).

Nice work Garry!

Josie Ruth is a Dive 2000 Manager and Scuba & Photography Instructor. Josie has shown with this fantastic behavioral shot that she can ‘walk the talk’ when giving advice on all aspects of underwater photography.

This cuttle was predating on squid at Clifton Gardens Wharf, a shore dive in Sydney Harbour.

Josie captured this image on film with her Nikon F90 SLR in Sea & Sea Housing with dual strobes.

May 05 - Lucy Kuilman

Lucy Kuilman captured this moray while enjoying the delights of Jervis Bay onboard Ocean Trek.

This was Lucy’s first dive with her new digital camera.

Lucy captured the image with her new Olympus 5060 digital camera and housing with internal flash.

Jun 05 - Tom Piotrowski

Tom Piotrowski is just one of the many Sydney divers to see the benefits of protected areas and cleaner water in Sydney.

This beautiful image of a juvenile Dusky Shark was taken just a stones throw from the cafes and shops of Manly. Nice one Tom!

Tom captured this image of a Dusky Shark—Carcharhinus obscurus (sometimes called Black Whaler) at Fairy Bower in Sydney. There have been a number of the juveniles regularly spotted there by divers over recent years.

He used his with Sony T3 digital camera and Sea&Sea YS25 auto strobe.

Jul 05 - Paul Krattiger

This month we have another great example of the gems awaiting keen-eyed Sydney divers.

Paul Krattiger gave us a shark in 2004 and is now back with this amazing anglerfish doing a great sponge impersonation.

Paul has been enjoying the excellent diving in Sydney recently with this picture taken at Bear Island in Botany Bay. Thanks Paul!

Paul captured this image of a Painted Anglerfish Antennarius pictus with his Nikon F80 SLR in a Sea & Sea housing with twin SB105 strobes providing the lighting.

Aug 05 - Song Jin

Song Jin is an enthusiastic diver and has been enjoying the great travel opportunities available a short flight from Australia.

Fiji was her recent choice for a holiday and she encountered some great shark feeding action in Beqa Lagoon. This Tawny Nurse Shark has been captured as it is taking the fish.

Song Jin used a Compact Canon Digital Camera to capture this image of the Tawny Nurse shark at Fiji, Beqa Lagoon Shark Dive.

This was Song's first ever attempt at underwater photography and she has other great shark pictures as well. Really good effort for a beginner diver and photographer.

Sept 05 - Peter Cave

Peter Cave has continued the tradition of showcasing the great critters in the waters around Sydney. This month we have another great example of the gems awaiting keen-eyed Sydney divers.

The anglerfish was located by Peter on a night dive at Clifton Gardens.

Jason Ruth has backed up our claims about the Yongala Wreck being one of the World’s Top Ten Dives.

The turtles are so friendly and unconcerned by divers that they make fantastic photo subjects. The only problem is all the fish getting in the way.

Kathy captured this magnificent fish at the whale shark capital of the world...Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia.

Kathy took this picture during a holiday this year with her Canon Eos 300 Digital SLR.

Dec 05 & Photo of the Year - Phillip Martyn

Patience is a virtue for underwater photographers and Phillip Martyn has been rewarded for his with this lovely portrait of a Blue Devilfish.

Congratulations to Phillip for winning our 2005 Photo of the Year and a $50 Gift Certificate from Dive 2000.

Not only has this Jervis Bay resident fish not turned his back, he has also given us a great view of the outstretched yellow pectoral fins. Great work Phillip!
