Paul Hardwick composed this poem to celebrate the great time had by all on theDive 2000 April 2005 holiday to Kimbe Bay PNG onboard Mike Ball's Paradise Sport.

Also, check out some great photos from the holiday by David Von Schill http://www.dive2000.com/blog/Photos/TravelPhotos/KimbeBay05

Calm seas and leaping Dolphins, under sunlit skies of blue,
Sharks and Barracuda, Big Eyed Jacks and Tuna – for starters that’ll do,
Nudibranchs and heaps of critters we also want to see,
And the bestest place for all of that is up in PNG.

As Dive 2000 divers we really want it all,
So we talked and mulled it over and decided on Mike Ball,
A luxury live aboard is the vessel that we sought,
And there’s none that come much better than the Paradis de Sport,

The cabins are cosy and pretty hard to beat,
And joy of joys and hallelujah! ya get your own ensuite.
Great food, lots of good diving and heaps of fun for all,
I guess when all is said and done its quintessential Ball.

The Dive 2000 Group was led by Kevin and Cherie,
All underwater camera buffs – well all except for me.

There was Dave the gun instructor with his rebreather styled reg,
He’d spot and show you lots of things – if you were prepared to beg,
There was Richard in his hood of blue (we called him aqua man),
He dove into the dappled depths, but strictly to the plan,
There was Fenella and buddy Gemma (the feisty female two),
They dived with great aplomb into the fading blue.
The older folk were represented and quick to heed the call,
Especially once we heard the magic words “we’re diving with Mike Ball”,
There was Colin and his Sandy – the photographic queen,
Followed by my bumbling self all dressed up in mi green,
Not to forget Todd and Randy,
From the land of Yanky Doodle Dandy (they kept slurping bourbon and saying someone called Jack lives here?).
The aforementioned boarded in Walindi, expecting lots to see,
Loaded our gear and cameras and took off with Cherie (sorry Kevin),
The dive sites that were chosen covered most of Kimbe Bay,
Plus we got a detailed briefing conducted by AJ,
There are palm fringed studded islands all glistening in the sun,
And schools of playful Dolphins just having lots of fun,

The reefs were all pristine, the water warm and nice and clear,
And we snapped away ‘cameras drawn’ at each dusky depth and tier.

AJ and his crew were always on deck – to help us with our tanks, And after a week of pampering we owed them lots of thanks. Diving down those coral walls – staring into the abyss, Kimbe Bay’s a super place you really shouldn’t miss.
