Wow, what a fun night!  There were some very sore heads the morning after the Dive 2000 25th Birthday celebration on Saturday 17th November.  The business notches up the quarter century after a complete renovation of the Dive Centre in 2004, to create a modern facility which is perfectly setup for purchase, hire, and training.

Guests arriving at the Mosman RSL were greeted with a welcoming champagne before moving into the Sirius Room which was decked out for a party with themed tables and lighting.  After a delicious entrée, MC Dave Young introduced our guest speakers for the evening.

First up was instructor Brent Hedges who talked about the special experiences shared by divers and how being part of the Dive 2000 community adds to the enjoyment of our unique sport.  Next up was Channel Nine finance presenter Ross Greenwood who is a long time Dive 2000 customer.  Ross took control of the microphone and had the audience in stitches with his recounting of his travels with Kevin to Thailand, Western Australia and New Guinea.

Before main course, Kevin was able to present a fantastic audio visual history of his diving career from his first scuba dives in 1964 right through the story of Dive 2000 since its opening in 1982 to the current day.  Kev’s history includes dive leadership of Jean Michel Cousteau expeditions to Papua New Guinea, pioneering adventure dive travel to exotic destinations and underwater photo courses throughout Australia including universities such as JCU in Cairns.  The presentation also highlighted the incredible contribution of past & present staff, clients, and lots of diving activity fun.

Special guests on the night included Grahame Wright who has been a client for 25years and was also celebrating his 60th birthday and Phil Clinton who is Kevin’s longest client going back to before Dive 2000 was founded.

Also honored on the night was Dive 2000 Shop Manager Josie Ruth who marks the impressive milestone of 10 years working at the dive centre.

After the cutting of a huge birthday cake the prize draw was conducted with Simon Harding winning the club prize of an Ocean Trek weekend and Kathy Cave landing the door prize of a Bali dive holiday.

After dinner it was into full party mode with lots of dancing and fun with music duo Sam & Jamie.  Many of the crowd showed their form on the dance floor or took the opportunity to catch up with old diving mates over a drink or two!

The night ended all too soon with everyone looking forward to the next reason to have a party!
