Blue skies greeted the first crew of Dive 2000 divers to venture out on the newest dive vessel  in Sydney, the Hoochie Mumma.  This was a relief after some big storms over the previous days.

After our gear was dropped off and then loaded onboard at the Spit, our Captain Todd made way for the 10 minute run to The Heads and then north to the dive site for the morning - Blue Fish Bay.  Some enjoyed the scenery and sun from the top deck of the Hoochie Mumma while others busied themselves getting their gear sorted for the dive.

We dropped anchor in Blue Fish Bay which was nicely sheltered from the southerly swells we could see rolling along the coast.  After a final briefing from Divemaster Dave Young we made our way down the anchor line for the first of the 2 dives.

The terrain was interesting with patches of kelp, large boulders and sponge growth on the dive with depth from 17 -24m.  We encountered a inquisitive ray who came in to check out Carrie and a small Port Jackson shark only a foot or so long.

After a surface interval with tea, coffee, hot soup and sunshine, the second dive was on the inside portion of the bay.  Here we encountered a Weedy Sea Dragon, more rays, and a curious octopus.

All in all, a great day out on the Hoochie Mumma.  We have more Sunday dives on the boat scheduled over summer as well as some Thursday dusk dive and BBQ agendas planned.  Why not book in and join us.
