It was a cold and wet drive to Forster on the Thursday night. The weather was wild and woolly on the Friday and diving was cancelled for the day. But our spirits were not dampened as the weather forecast for the Sat and Sunday looked promising. Rather than waste the day we used the Friday to sharpen our photographic skills on the beach at Seal Rocks.
The next day we were rewarded with blue skies and calmer seas. On the Saturday we dove The Pinnacles. 20meter viz offset the current that could still be felt at 30m. We were given a glimpse of what was to come on Sunday, Wobbies, two massive rays and two 3m Grey Nurse sharks were just a few of the animals we saw on our dives.

Sunday turned on the weather with flat seas and even clearer skies. This enabled us to get out to our intended target ‘Big Seal’. We dove the ‘Grotto’ for both dives that day and enjoyed no less that 30 Grey Nurse sharks on each dive.
Everyone headed back on Sunday changed by the awesome beauty and majesty of the Grey Nurse sharks. Certainly no one went home disappointed. I for one can’t wait to get back there next year (or maybe earlier?).
